Spider Solitaire game

Spider Solitaire is one of the oldest single-player card games. Standard Windows solitaire has long been widely popular. The game is not the easiest, but fans of Spider Solitaire are ready to spend hours conjuring over the cards, finding winning moves and combinations.

Game history

Disputes about the place of appearance of solitaire games continue, although they do not lead to conflicts. All parties agree that the habit of laying out cards according to certain rules could only have originated with an idle lifestyle. Leisure time for non-standard card games was spent by aristocrats. It is not surprising that the painful days of imprisonment in Bastille representatives of the noble families whiled away for the invention of new solitaire games and improvement of the old ones. The name "Spider" probably explains the eight — so many legs of the spider and ready-made stacks in this card layout.

The game has successfully survived the centuries, has gone far beyond the aristocratic circle, and over time has taken new forms, but has retained the principles and rules. In the era of computerization, Spider Solitaire was firmly established in Windows and was present in all its versions until Windows 8 from the 90s.

Interesting fact

Once solitaire was a way of divination. Before the game was played, you had to make a wish or formulate a question, the result was judged by the convergence of solitaire. On the eve of the execution, the Scottish Queen Mary Stuart (Mary I Stuart) played solitaire all night. According to legend, the unfortunate woman said to herself, if the complex situation comes together, the execution will take place. This was the only time the Queen solved the puzzle.
Modern people rarely play solitaire from paper cards on the table. There are also a few people who turn on the computer just to play solitaire. For most, Spider Solitaire is an opportunity to take a break from hard work. Each person has an individual cycle during which they can focus. On average, a five-minute break is required after one to one and a half hours of work.
Officials in Greece a few years ago tried to ban solitaire during working hours, intending to equate them with gambling. This bill was rejected by a majority vote in Parliament.

How to play Spider Solitaire

Spider Solitaire uses 104 cards. Depending on the chosen difficulty, it can be two full decks of 52 cards, cards of one or two suits. 54 cards are laid out in 10 columns (4 columns of 6 cards and 6 of 5), the rest are in 5 spare ones.

Cards in columns can be moved in descending order, for example, a ten is attached to a Jack of any suit. If a row of the same suit is made up, it is allowed to transfer it in its entirety.

The goal of the game is to reveal all the cards and collect the full suits from king to ACE. If you have made all possible moves, take new cards from the reserve piles. When the suit is collected, it will be removed from the field, and any top card or row can be placed in the empty cell. The simplest version of solitaire — a game of one suit, a novice player should practice on it.

Tips on the game

First, try to sort out the longest rows of cards.
Use the backup deck when you run out of options with open cards in the columns.
In the empty top cell, you can place the king to create a new row. But in many cases, you should remove the map that prevents you from making a row.
If possible, keep all the stacks on the same level. A long row makes it difficult to move.

Playing with cards of the same suit is considered a training game. when using a full deck, solitaire is laid out in 30% of cases. Be patient, connect your thinking skills and show what you can do!
