Drift games सामान्य race के बारे में नहीं, बल्कि slide control के बारे में होती हैं। यहाँ केवल finish तक जल्दी पहुँचना नहीं, बल्कि car को सही angle पर रखना, speed न खोना और turn में trajectory न बिगाड़ना महत्वपूर्ण है। Player लगातार balance पर काम करता है: gas, brake, steering और countersteering को एक smooth rhythm में मिलना चाहिए।

इस tag में short score runs, open areas, mountain roads, city tracks और spectacular slides वाली arcade challenges आ सकती हैं। कुछ games realistic physics पर जोर देती हैं, जबकि दूसरी games तेज visual result देती हैं, जहाँ कुछ seconds में combo बनाया जा सकता है। दोनों मामलों में fun तब आता है जब car response करती है और slide random नहीं, बल्कि controlled move लगता है।

Drift game चुनते समय car behavior देखना बेहतर है। Control बहुत heavy हो, तो game जल्दी boring हो जाती है; car अगर logic के बिना slide करे, तो control feeling खत्म हो जाती है। Short break के लिए fast restart और combo score वाले levels अच्छे हैं। Long play के लिए different cars, tuning, open maps और ऐसी tracks अधिक interesting हैं जहाँ अगला turn ज्यादा precision माँगता है।
